This build has been planted or dreamed of ever since DPMS introduced the GII back in 2014. 4 years have now gone by and we now have a decent selection of aftermarket parts. The barrel i'm going with is a 20in Satern they are trusted and we know they shoot Grendel very accurately.  The Creedmoor in a compact and light frame becomes about as optimal as it gets for a hunting AR.

Yes, very good caliber and platform (small frame)

What did Saturn has to say about fitting the GII extension and head spacing the bolt?

Do builders have to use special tools to get it set/installed or has the delay in the market booming been the lack of BCGs and extensions?

Satern sells them as matched sets with extensions installed and matching head spaced bolts. Other words no special tools its just like any bolt and barrel combo from satern.

I too have thought about doing this build. Where are you sourcing the receiver set. I have only come across complete rifles and no striped receivers. I think the combo of the DPMS GII in a 6.5 Creedmoor is an excellent idea.
