Just wanted to share a learning I had with my Grendel build I'm doing. Decided I wanted to try a side charging upper. Ordered an Odin Works 15.5handguard" M-Loc free float handguard. Didn't realize that most if not all side charging uppers are apparently billet and milled thicker, slab sided at the front end. The Odin has a skirt on the left & right side that is suppose to wrap along both sides of the upper. This is the case with the Matrix side charger & the Stoner. So now I'm looking for another handguard.

I've got the Alexander Arms 'reinforced upper with charging handle, and I bought a DiamondHead VRS-T, which as two follower tabs that hold the outer side walls of the upper to keep it perfectly aligned; naturally, those tabs were designed for a traditional AR upper, and not the fat walls of the AA upper. Luckily, I worked for a machining company at the time, so, I just mulled the tabs off.
