Howdy,

Former military living in Texas.  Began looking into a 6.5 Grendel SPR for all the same reasons the cartridge was envisioned in the first place.  Excellent middle ground between 5.56 and 7.62.  Anyway, the more I searched and read, the more convoluted and contradictory some of the information became.  I found this forum when one of its threads popped up in one of 1,000 google searches I've done on various Grendel topics and issues.  The information, fairness, and maturity of the those involved in the thread grabbed my attention, and I decided to join in the interest of soliciting specific, thorough advice from those members.

To that end, I will be posting an overly lengthy reply in the "Liberty Barrel Drama" thread.  I have no interest in any drama, or trolling/flaming, or politics regarding the 6.5 Grendel cartridge.  I have already invested in a specific Grendel platform, and I am solely looking for friendly clarity and help, given the specific purpose of my build and issues I have noticed.

Thanks for having me.

I read you post and it sounds like the most likely culprit is the firing pin or the bolt. Satern around the time frame you mentioned had to drop a bolt supplier due to inconsistency with quality. You could take it up with them or order a Bolt from Frank Sabatano at Maxim Firearms. They are IMO the best qualily Grendel bolts made. You can call him at 9284862296 and tell him that Craig at msrhunt sent you and the issue your having and he'll hook you up.

+1 on this information.

Second issue I read is buying second hand and not sure his upper supplier provided the bolt that originally came with the barrel. Lots of shady sales going on out there.

That could be an issue as well.
