Hey guys. Im new to the grendel side of the AR platform. I have built plenty of 223 wylde/556 guns and bolt actions in the past and have acquired quite a few parts so i figured i would put together a grendel to be a little different.

The internet is riddled with information/misinformation as you know on different Grendel chambers, 264 lbc, throat types, bolt depth types bla bla bla. I have been lurking and reading on this forum and the grendel forum for several weeks now trying to educate myself. There is so much that is contradictory, probably the worst out of all calibers.

The sole purpose of this rifle will be to ring steel on my range out to 800yrds. Not saying i will push it that far but it would be fun to try. Long high BC bullets that i will hand load will be what it feeds 99% of the time.

I need help deciding what manufacturers are going to offer a barrel that will work with my specific needs. Pros/cons for these mfgs: Odin works, satern/ liberty, AA, precision firearms,Black hole weaponry, etc.

My desires:
20" length or close to it
Rifle length gas system
Threaded 5/8 X 24
Fluting is a plus but not mandatory

Thanks in advance for any advise/ help given!

We have a long list of loads for the Satern/Libery barrels with longer throats they need loaded slightly different so we've cataloged the loads that work the best. 123gr Lapua Scenar with 8208XBR would be a good long range load. That said our barrel buy barrels are light designed for quick shouldering in the field not heavy like most real long rang barrels.

This amax load from our 22in abrrel buy barrels would be a good long range option.

Nice! I use amax and 8208xbr in my 308 bolt gun almost exclusively. Is the 22inch barrel buy contour a medium as well or heavy?

So your saying the 22inch is preferred for longer distances, im assuming because of the increased velocity the extra two inches adds as opposed to something being different in the throat to accomadate the longer bullets?

Its about 40fps from the 20in to 22in so not that big of a difference. The 20in will do fine.
