hello. i'm a new member from Kentucky. I was invited here from a youtube video where I was borescoping a new 6.5 Grendel barrel that is heading back to the maker. I do gun smithing on the side. I grew up working with lathes and end mills on farms. back them if something broke you either made it from scratch or welded it back together. I got into gun smithing after I sent a rifle of for rebarreling, glass bedding and a trigger job about 20 years ago. I looked it up on line and knew right them I could have done it all myself. it was a high price lesson I learned. I now work on rifles for friends, and family at about a 1/3 of the price other smithes charge in our area. my machinery is all paid for. I just have to make sure all my reamers and tooling is up to spec.

I have shot in matches from a.r.a. and ir50/50 50 yard rifle matches, ibs score matches and 1000 yard matches. I also partake in i.d.p.a. matches. I use one of two pistols. a glock 17 I have reset the trigger in or one of my 1911 pistols. I shoot the Wilson combat CQB in about every other match at our local range.

I also make knives for fun as well. I make straight blade knives. I made my own furnace and I made a anvil out of a piece of railroad track I milled flat and made the horn on. it isn't perfect or really heavy duty like most, but it has worked for me.

I am a deer hunter. I hunt with a bow and with a rifle. year before last I used my .44 mag pistol during rifle season as a game changer. my family owns our own land and we have a cabin in the middle of it. this year I am hooking up six 150 watt solar panels on it and putting the battery bank in. I have grown tired of halling a genny in and out every year.

I would like to thank the person who invited me here. I hope to always learn new things and maybe pass along info to others who want to learn what little I know.

I say things that might not be good on here. I am a free speaking man. my words could very well turn off other shooters. if I see junk I have been know to use words others may not like. I do not want others to be turned off because I use strong words. I will try to tone it down so I can put videos up on here.

I have one of the cheaper bore scopes as well. it is really handy to see if a barrel has rifling missing, or hasn't been cleaned well. it takes a higher end camera to get the good up close view.
