WOW! What a topic! I won't argue here. That's not walking in love. I was raised by a bunch of fine folks that came out of a non-denominational church that, in essence, was a denomination unto itself. They were SURE that THEY had the true, final, say-all truth about the end times. My own Grandmother was a tent evangelist back in the old days when that was popular. Mr. Scofield's version of King Jimmy's text was the book to go by and everyone was pre-trib. I've heard doctrines in 59 years that range from NO rapture at all to Pre, mid and post trib. ALL< out of King Jimmy. We traveled a lot when I was a kid and, by God, we were gonna be in a pew somewhere, somehow, every Sunday or we'd have church at home. My Dad's an ordained minister, so....

Anyway, I absolutely DO NOT KNOW for certain, when the Rapture will be. I guess we'll all find out when it happens, won't we? Until then, God started me out weird and I have no plans on changing. When folks wanted to know what I wanted to be when I grew up, the answer was "A caveman!" All my life, as far back as I can remember, and even though I didn't even know what it was called at the time, I have been interested in Paleolithic subsistence techniques. Anthropology has always been a favorite subject of mine and, being a New Mexico Desert Rat by birth, I always figured that, knowing how the OLD timers from WAY back managed to survive the vagaries of weather here, would be some GOOD stuff to know. So, in my own time and own way, it has been  my private research study. It's not what I thought of as prepping per se, but it certainly is applicable!

From what I read in the Bible, going back to the original languages as much as possible, I'm not absolutely sure that we will be ABLE to prepare for what is coming on this Earth. The Tribulation, in certain ways, seems to be well in the process of formation. If we look at things as literally written in the Word, some seriously serious feces are about to take wing. I was listening to and reading Chapter 2, Isaiah the other day and the very last verse nearly blew me out of bed. " The entire scene is set in "Last Days" Jerusalem and Judah but involves a planet wide situation. The very last verse of the chapter got me. " Cease from man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?" Here we are, in a VERY Apocalyptic scene, badness taking place all over and suddenly, Isaiah, under God's influence, steps aside and tells us to cease from MAN? Are we not men, species speaking? CAN, are we ABLE, to prep for what gets described as coming our way in the near future? With a recent diagnosis of Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, in my own life, and living in a wheelchair 99.9% of my waking hours, watching what happened in New Orleans after Katrina convinced me that, my brand of folks are considered dispensable. That COULD leave one feeling skeert and weak. That is not FAITH. Psalm 94 gives me great comfort. GREAT comfort. What if--we just aren't awfully visible to the "enemy" when we witness the destruction of this world's systems? Surely, many NOMINAL Christians will be taking a hit but not ALL of the faithful will die. I plan on living just right up to the point that someone declares me to be dead, and THEN, everyone needs to wait about 3-4 hours before taking further action. I MAY just be needing a nap and to cool down. I have extreme heat sensitivity to contend with, in this desert.

God is faithful to His Word and most assuredly, to us. I will NOT fear. I'll do what I can to prep but ability is limited. Things change so quickly in this world. Seven years ago, Multiple Sclerosis, was just a pair of words I'd heard but knew nothing about. Now I discover that, I've been fighting MS for over 35 years and just never got diagnosed. I was SURE I could muscle THROUGH MS and lost both legs and arms trying. The arms are mostly back, one leg tries very hard and one leg is driven by SpongeBob Squarepants. I have my notions of what I want it to do. It does what it wants. Such is life. God is GOOD! I still suck atmosphere and I'm supposed to be getting a brand new Grendel Upper today. Apparently, by the 18th of this month, I'll even have a SHORT range to shoot it in. It's been 36 years since I last fired more than a single round through an AR. I'm just a TOUCH excited!

End times? Absolutely! Rapture? Sure would be nice pre-trib but may not be lined up that way. Trust God? The ONLY way to go. Prep? Yeah, as able but, manna has been used before in a 40 year boonie stomp where folks clothes didn't wear out. That or I'm a dead man walking, so to speak. That has been a fact since my first breath at birth.

Some scriptures i find very important is Matthew 24 where jesus clearly teaches that he returns AFTER the tribulation. No one knows the day or the hour but we know it comes AFTER the tribulation. This pretrib rapure Hollywood version of the bible is made up.

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand[smile]

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25 Behold, I have told you before.

26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Then comes Matthew 25 and it clearly teaches us to be prepared.

Matthew 25King James Version (KJV)

25 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

I really need to take a course on Revelation.  There is so much symbolism in that book that I lose the meaning of the text.  One of the tougher reads outside of the Psalms for me.

Read Mathew 24 first its the key then read Revelations chapter 6. They are speaking of the same events about the Tribulation and then the rapure. The rapured then show up in Heaven in chapter 7. After revelations 6 then its Gods Wrath. Chapter 12 starts over and gives the same events from a different perspective.

Heres a pic of Pastor Manly Perry at Old Path Baptist Church with a buck he dropped with his 300 BLK. He recently preached this sermon on Biblical and practical prepping. Pastor Perry pastors a church in San Antonio Texas and stops by our forum from time to time. i enjoy listening to him regularly.
