Received my pair on Saturday. They look great. Now what to do with them?

The barrel nut for the handguard I was going to use won't fit over the barrel - anyone have suggestions for a good free-float that should fit?

For reference, the handguard I was going to go with is a Diamondhead VRS-T 13".

can you just clearance the nut a little and make it work like with a dremel and a sanding drum?

i used a rail i got from Johnathan Whitney they are like parallax tactical clones and it fit.

if you need advise on opening it up let me know i can make a quick video.

I will probably just save the Diamondhead rail for my next AR-15 project - I'm planning on doing a .277 Wolverine. I have a Midwest rail on the way from Wisconsin already to use with this barrel.

I was considering just bringing it in to work and having one of the tool room guys turn it on the lathe but this way is a little easier.

yes the midwest industries should work fine with it. i run them on several guns. i also use them when i am pressure testing calibers because it was easy to modify the barrel nut to work with pressure trace. will post pics op of the build tonight.

glad you got it figured out.

The barrel nut should fit on any profile Barrel as it should have the ID larger than the barrel but smaller than the barrel extension. I had a few Diamondhead HG's and put them on .875 and .936 HBar so not sure why its not fitting.

Maybe call Diamondhead and ask them, the ID of the barrel nut should be more than the OD of the largest area on the barrel. Maybe you got a bad barrel nut.

The page for the VRS-T handguard does state that the barrel nut might have compatibility issues with some heavy barrels.  http://www.diamondhead-usa.com/collections/vrs-t-handguards/products/diamondhead-v-rs-t-free-floating-versa-base

I was able to fit it over my Tromix 458 Socom barrel though, so I thought it would be ok with the HBAR.  I was incorrect.  I'm not sad about it, the handguard will be put into use.

MSRHunt, do you think you'll be doing another group buy of a similar .223 Wylde barrel this year?

We could if there was 12 barrels that wanted homes.

I'm interested in getting in on a buy like this if you run it again. Wouldn't mind if a headspaced bolt was added as well. Thanks.
