I have wanted to hunt antelope/speedgoat for along time and now that I live in Wyoming I have the chance too. Been here coming on 3yrs and this was my 1st year putting in for a tag and got picked. This was the 3rd buck of the morning. I shot over one and under one and was hanging up the hat when I spotted this fellow. It was a short stalk and close shot maybe walked about 100yds and got close to 60-70yds from this guy. I have spent too much time this summer shooting from a bench and not practicing my offhand shooting. Anyway I shot and thought I had missed again as he turned a ran away from me. I go to where he was standing and no blood, continue walking up hill in the direction he went no blood. Crested the hill and looked out in the sagebrush for any sign, nothing. I take a few steps down hill and then I see something red in the brush, a few more steps and there he was piled up maybe ran 50yds if that far. Shot was alittle high but got him the bowler room. My load was a 123gr Amax over 28grs of 8208, Barrel was from a Group buy and is a 22" Satern. I am pretty sure the bullet exploded by the exit channel. It was a pencil size hole going in and golf ball hole going out. The head is at the taxidermist for a Euro mount and the fellow told it is an above average buck for Wyoming. The open space hunting is something new to me, back east I was always in the woods and shot my deer with a shotgun and buckshot.

Congratulations Jimmy. That's a real nice buck. I think we all need a little more time practicing free hand shooting. Bench shooting is always easier. Great job.
