The 358MGP is a wildcat I designed back in 2008 Because I thought a med-bore AR would fill in and take over some of the areas some other cartridges lack and being left handed this worked out even better and its going strong with just 23grs of Lil-Gun and a 200gr Hornady FTX and a 16.5" barrel you get 2132fps and shoots under 3/8" 5 shot groups at 100 yards.

I designed the round to shoot the Hornady 200gr FTX Bullets and have an effective killing range of 200 yards and it does it very well
And will take all medium to big game in North America. I intend to do some bear hunting with it. I wanted it to be accurate but never expected for
it to be this accurate. It has better performance than a 35 Remington because it does it out of a 16.5" barrel. If I used a 24" barrel I could
easily get 2300 + fps out of it. And only needing 23grs of Lil-Gun it is very efficient. 100% powder burn about 10" down the barrel so it is very clean.

It uses all standard 6.8 SPC Components only part that needs to be modified is the magazine which is very simple if you have a mill.

All I use is PRI mags they are strong and feed like no other.

Barrels and Custom Dies will be available in the Spring
 die pic.JPG

Making brass from 6.8 cases is very simple you first run them through any 30 cal sizing die then through
the 358MGP die , Fire Form , trim to 1.630" and your done after fire forming only about .010" needs to be trimmed off
so trimming is quick and I have not had to trim since the first time.
I only use Hornady Brass I find it to be much more uniform than any other 6.8 brass out there.

Here is a chart not to knock the 458 Socom but just to show how well a med-bore AR fits the bill.

Here is a coyote I shot at 183 yards

Here's a couple nice Hogs taken with the 200gr FTX from another Happy 358MGP owner
With complete penetration on both hogs.

This was a running away quartering shot. The bullet exited between her eye and ear on the left side.
Now that's some good penetration.

I have received the ok to post the price for this setup so here it is.

Price for 16.5" Barrel and Hornady Custom Die Set is $350 plus shipping. Barrel is a Stainless hand lapped beauty! I'm by no means comparing these barrels to one of the high end barrel makers but for the price and if any of you own a Mcgowen Barrel you know what in talking about. Thanks for your interest. Mike

ETA: I use Stag Arms 6.8 Bolt if you want a stronger bolt you can always go with a AR Performance Super Bolt http://www.ar15performance.com/bolts

I'm left handed so im stuck with Stag but I have never had any problems with there bolt.

That is awesome looking, and obviously works very very well.  Just what I need another wildcat to consider.[biggrin]

Have you tried it with any of the .358-.359 cast bullets yet.  I cast a 170gr semi wad cutter that I can picture looking pretty awesome sticking in that case.
